Supporting Veterans and Military Families in Maryland
Veterans’ issues are personal to Wes Moore. As a veteran himself and part of a military veteran family, he has experienced firsthand the pride and challenges that come with service. He deployed with the 82nd Airborne Division, marking some of the proudest moments of his life. However, he also recognizes that veterans and their families haven’t always received the respect and admiration they deserve.
In his administration, he was determined to make a change. He passed legislation focusing on critical areas such as employment opportunities for veterans’ spouses, ensuring they have the chance to be hired and gainfully employed. He made Maryland the first state in the country to provide a pathway for free dental care and healthcare for members of the National Guard. His efforts turned the Department of Veterans Affairs into the Department of Veterans Affairs and Military Families, demonstrating a commitment to making Maryland the best place in the country for military families.
Moore is proud of the progress made so far to support military families. Returning to Charles County holds special significance for him. It was one of the first places he visited during his campaign, and he promised to continue spending time there as governor. He loves the work being done in Charles County and the momentum seen in Southern Maryland as a whole.
He believes that for Maryland to thrive in the coming decade, Southern Maryland must take a leadership role. He is committed to making that happen. Thank you for your dedication and support. It’s great to see Moore continuing to champion the needs of veterans and military families.
